Job Summary
The IT Systems Administrator role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house / cloud based information systems that support core business functions. This is achieved by infrastructure monitoring, enterprise job scheduling, workload automation, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and infrastructure. The IT Systems Administrator will apply proven analytical, infrastructure problem-solving skills to identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.
Essential Job Functions
  • Provide on and off hour support on system related issues as necessary.
  • Provide support to peer IT teams for related projects and day-to-day issues.
  • Accountable for the overall up-time of the servers and environment.
  • Establish and maintain formal procedures and policies for hardware and systems security, performance monitoring, archive and backup, initial configuration and system changes.
  • Automate standard tasks where applicable.
  • Accountable for hardware and software license management, upgrades and warranties in area of specialty.
  • Support business initiatives that require multitasking, time management and priority assessment of workloads.
  • Performs server and storage hardware/software installation and maintenance tasks. These tasks range from standard in nature to moderately complex.
  • Installs and maintains infrastructure management / monitoring tools.
  • Provides problem identification and resolution support services.
  • Uses infrastructure management tools to perform server/storage performance monitoring and capacity planning functions.
  • Develop, document and implement standards and procedures
  • Assist in troubleshooting various system, network, and application issues
  • Develop and implement best operational practices for windows server environment
  • Evaluate current systems in area of specialty to identify areas for improvement or new direction and provide as input into future systems strategies.
  • Evaluate new technologies in area of specialty and provide input into future systems strategies.
  • Provide expert advice, training and project management and technical support for various projects in area of specialty.
  • Effectively transition senior level knowledge to other members of the team to help grow the organization as a whole.
  • Train and mentor other team members in team standards, processes and methodologies.
  • Support the professional development of other team members.
  • Effectively delegate tasks to other team members to challenge individuals appropriately.
  • Identify relevant training needs for the IT organization.
  • Provide leadership to the team in regards to quality and integrity. Inspect and ensure the quality of work delivered by other team members.
Typical Education
  • Generally requires BS Degree or equivalent work experience
Experience Required
  • 3-5 years of hands-on technical experience supporting some combination of X86 server, storage and networking infrastructure.
  • 3-5 years working with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Unix/Linux, Citrix, or Hyper-V.
  • Provide immediate / response/remediation/ and escalation for incidents occurring in the environment
  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly to emerging technologies
  • Infrastructure Management Tools
  • Must have a strong customer service mindset
